I believe it's supposed to be pronounced "boo-ootiz", though I've also heard people call it "booties" and I just generally call it "boots", but I don't get to talk to people much

You might want to look at this site on how to pronounce astronomical objects. Having said that, there are many such sites which end up contradict each other leaving me with the conclusion that you can pronounce them anyway that you want.

Well! My team - Brighton & Hove Albion - had a goalkeeper for many years called Michel Kuipers.... so I would pronounce it 'Kyper' based on the way you say his name. SEEEEAGULLS!

I honestly think the way we pronounce things is down to where we live and our accents (nothing new in that). Take for example:

Ara (The Altar): AY-rah

I would pronounce this as:

Are-ah.
