Very basic and it wont worry Damian Peech but hey, not bad for a first go! :)

post-16295-0-24755800-1351957986_thumb.p

Only using a ED80 3" refractor with a 2x Powermate Barlow and captured with a SPC900. I used Registax with all default settings and the exposure of the SPC I set to 1/1500.

Surprised that if left to full auto its just a washed out blob.

Any advice on best setting for the SPC?

Thanks, Steve

Well done thats a very good first Jupiter!

Make sure you capture plenty of frames so at 10fps a 4 min avi should give you 2400 frames of which you can stack about 1000 to get a nice smooth image. Keep gain above 50% and gamma 0-10%. If you are using sharpcap to capture there is a exposure histogram which needs to be about 60-70% full. Your image is a little blue so best to de-select auto whitebalance and adjust blue and red to get the right colour balance.

For a 3 inch scope thats a nice image!
