After failed attempts....First M42!

Well after spending an hour not being able to get rid of star trails, I discovered I'd polar aligned on the wrong star !

Anyway finally got 23 subs of 2 mins each, 30 darks. Stacked in DDS with a quick tweak in PS6. Just a jpeg here, but it's nicer as a tiff. I'm still pretty new to imaging, so I'm quite happy with this. Can do with a lot of work, but a good place to start lol.

Nice one A tip - save and upload as PNG rather than JPEG. Bigger file but no compression artefacts.

A very good choice of nebula, being realtively bright compared to most others,

It has come out very well indeed, I wish my first pics come out as well as this lol

What ever your doing , keep doing it

Just pay the extra attention to focus as it is just on the soft side.

Yeah I'm struggling a bit with focus. It's only a small scope so it's often finding a star bright enough to use a bhatinov, and my dslr model has no live view, so it's a bit awkward.
