johnb
HiI had hoped to use ISIS for analysis but on checking I see it uses Fit files, my cannon produces .CR2 files - can I convert or will I lose data ?RegardsJohn B
the rev
Not sure about how you would convert. You could try rspec as a demo, I think it accepts more variety of file formats
Keiran
If i remember correctly i think my canon came with a cd. On the disc was a load of software, and im sure one of these bits of software was a converter. Im not sure about losing data, but if u do i dont think it will be much as im sure its a type of RAW file, bit i cant be sure. Inly reason i say this is DSS saves its stacked images as either a fit or tif. Hope that helps Keiran
GlassWalker
CR2 and FITS could both be seen as data containers. It should be possible to convert between them losslessly or near enough so. I know for example PixInsight and Nebulosity can do conversoins, but neither are free tools. Strictly, full resolution CR2 files contain bayer pattern colour information. Typically this is de-bayered into RGB format for normal use.
callump
You can load CR2's into IRIS and save those as FITS. IRIS is free http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/us/iris/iris.htmCallum
