Inconsistencies

On the SGL calender it says that tomorrow will be a full moon but Sky at Night magazine and the Cardiff astronomical society website both say that the full moon is tonight. Why is that?

Full moon happens at the same time for everyone on earth, but the moon's orbit is complicated because it's influenced by both earth and sun. That makes calculating full moon complicated too. Different websites may give different predictions depending on the level of precision in the algorithms they use - though a disagreement of many hours sounds more likely to be a mistake.

As it was Harvest Moon it was of particular interest to some. For Americans it happened last night (29th Sep), for Brits it was early this morning (30th Sep) - though we would all have seen it at the same moment in our different time zones.

Some religious and calendrical traditions require very accurate knowledge of full moon times. This site says it was 03.19 GMT.

The site I normally use says full moon was 04.19 BST (which is the same as 03.19 GMT)http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/moonrise.html

And this American site said yesterday that it would be "tonight", meaning 03.19 UT (which is the same as 03.19 GMT)

So all 3 websites I've looked at say that it was 4.19 this morning (30 Sep), UK time.
