Short question about polar alignment with EQMOD

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Y'day I was trying to use EQMOD for polar alignment. I used alignmaster before, but wanted to try it with EQMOD.

I saw a video on youtube about it:

There is one thingy i did not get.. if you are polar aligned, and the RA axis is in a certain position, do you have to go back to the home position in order to start going to objects?

Or can you start from the position you ended up with after alingment?

Thanks,

Ah, well, any planetarium will only report where the telescope DRIVER says it is pointing - which of course, may be no where near where it is ACTUALLY pointing....

Hence the need to do the alignment after the PA :)

How accurate is this method compared with using the setting circles.

That really depends on how accurately the use can user the polar scope reticule to set EQMOD's starting position compared to how accurately that same user is able to calibrate and read/position the setting circles.
