HEQ5 Setting circles

Hi

I have an HEQ5 pro synscan,

The shop I got it from said don't worry about the setting circles just align the reticule and then polar align.

Trouble is it does not goto the things I ask it to, so do I need to set the date and time circles and if so how I have polar finder on my computer but not sure how to use it.

Have a look at the astronomyshed vids on youtube. There is a series of them that are really useful.

Here is a really good guide to polar alignment - best one I've seen yet - it's for the eq6 but will equally apply to the eq5 - hope it helps you
