Phil Fargaze
The Astronomy Now September issue has a feature on red stars, so I whipped out the 10x50s and tracked down a couple of them. (Yes, I`ve actually had a couple of clear nights!). It was a nice way to restart a bit of observing after all the constant clouds and light summer nights. Mu Cephei otherwise known as the Garnet Star is surprisingly red and the wide FOV provides enough stars to give a good comparison.

BinocularSky
Is nice, isn't it. Also look at La Superba (Y CVn) if you like red stars.
Phil Fargaze
Steve, I shall have a look for Y CVn when possible. Your link doesn`t seem to work at the moment, or is it my browser?
BinocularSky
Your link doesn`t seem to work at the moment, or is it my browser?Sorry, my fault entirely. Been mucking about with some drawings and had the web site up on my internal server -- the link was to the copy on my hard drive. Trying to be competent this time!La Superba
