The PST mini-ERF.

If I removed the mini-ERF from my modded PST, would there be an improvement in brightness and definition of the image?

Not an expert in this by any means, but I believe you would get a slight but not really significant increase in brightness, and the definition wouldn't change.

No not really.

The mini-ERF is there to provide additional UV-IR protection to the blocking filter. The bandwidth is much greater than the final BF.

If it is badly deteriorated then there may be some benefit.

I removed mine from the PST mod to reduce ghosting and slight improvement in contrast. An added PL filter also helped a little.

Thanks Ken. So if I removed my mini-ERF for the same reasons that you did, leaving the blocker with only the BAADER D-ERF for protection, would this have the effect of shortening the life of the blocker?

IMHO, no it wouldn't make any difference.

I doubt there would be a problem. The D-ERF should block sufficiently.
