Is there a real difference...?

Recommended Posts

Hi i am thinking of getting a larger scope on en eq mount, and giving my goto mak 127 a rest. Cos i want to learn the sky and not rely on a computer to find objects.

What i want to know is, i was thnking of getting either a 150p or a 200p on an eq5 mount. Is there a vast difference between the 2 OTA'S in viewing and resolving dso's as well as planets? It may seem a stupid question but we all gotta learn somehow:)

Not a stupid question at all, but not that straight forward to answer. Firstly the 150 will be much steadier on the EQ5. You will notice some difference, DSO's such as M13 will come to life that bit more, and globulars in general will appear more resolved. Certain galaxies will be a little easier to make out. The word you will get a lot in this discussion is 'subtle'.
