Bins . . . . List of things to see

Recommended Posts

Hi again, just wondering if someone could tell me what or if, i am expected to see with a pair of 12*50 bins?

Had a ganders last night but failed to find any globular clusters at all. Is it at all possible with these, and could someone tell me which clusters i could see?

We wernt disappointed in anyway by far because we viewed more stars than we could see with the naked eye in a light polluted area.

Dont want to upgrade in anyway at all as we will be getting a scope shortly, but just after a short list if possible and will check out stellarium and the sky tonight weather permitting :clouds2:

Hi there, you might want to take a look at this site which contains some useful information regarding binoculars and targets to see this month. You might also want to look at this site too (about half way down in green writing) for some additional ideas and further links on what to look for.

Clear skies

You shoudl certainly be able to see M13 the globular in Hercules up to the NE..I saw it in my 10 x 50's. Have you a tripod? That really helps in finding and in fact seeing things..

It should show up as a small smudge...

I would suggest you also have a go at the Meliotte cluster in Coma B which is fab in binoculars...Also M44 the beehive in Cancer..

Good luck

Open clusters look particularly impressive in binoculars. You could have a look for The Coathanger in Vulpecula, Kemble's Cascade & NGC1502 in Camelopadarlis, Melotte 111 as suggested above - I saw all of these this weekend and they are all very pretty. Of course, when Taurus comes back into view later in the year there is Pleiades which to many people is the best of the lot.
