Photoshop Elements

Saw Photoshop Elements in Costco going cheap last week.

Think it was about £10-£15 range.

I know there are plenty of "hooky" copies of photoshop going around, but wondered if this was a good buy?

What version of Elements was it? I would like to think that it was a kosher copy from Costco!

I'll have to take a look to confirm, but I think elements 9

I think that version is on Amazon for a similar price. Might be worth checking how many bits it supports I.e. 16 or 32

Elements only really work well on 8 bit data although you can load 16 bit into t. If you are windows based then the smart curve filter, I believe will both add curves and operate at 16 bit. I have 9 and 10 (free upgrade because of when I bought 9), although 9 is very good.

Elements does lack a huge number of things needed for astro image processing...

It isn't what folks are using when, like me, they say processed in Ps. Just to be clear.

I found Download video-books on Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, and Flash this morning... it looks like it'll provide a lot of the features missing in Elements... although I doubt it provides the ability to edit in 16 bit mode.

I've used elements a couple of times but managed to get an old version of photoshop (7). I would say it's a bit basic but OK and I believe there is a version of Noel carboni's action available for photoshop elements.

If you're on a budget try it or try GIMP for free, might be worth looking around for older versions of photoshop also.
