iPad guiding

My son has an ipad and tells me that it can be used for running telescope control software.

Now that sounds like a good idea as the battery life is far greater than the 2/3 hours you get with a laptop - does anyone else use the ipad to control their scopes?

My netbook lasts ages on battery, I use it sometimes with stellarium but I'm not sure how long it would last with loads of other stuff plugged in.

Yes that is the problem with the ipad also, only one communication port that I can see.

SkyFi and SkySafari... never tried it, but the programme looks quite good.

Have seen Skysafari working - looks great.

But I think it's only scope control (as in replacement of the handset), it's not for guiding) I really wish it did, as i'm looking for laptop power options at the mo ........

I have Ski Safari with Skifi linked through my iPad and it works great. Just waiting for some clear nights.
