CCD Camera Power Needs

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking of buying a second hand OSC CCD and have been looking up some old threads on power needs for StalightExpress CCDs. It seems that you can not simply run them from a 12V DC battery but need the mains transformer which also runs the peltier (which is why they have a multi-pin power cable).

A) Is there any way around this or :) are the any other OSC CCDs that you can run from a 12V leisure battery?

Cheers,

Justyn

All three ATIKs I have plug straight into a 12V car battery. It's the same with the EFW2 filter wheel.

I'd expect all current cameras plug straight into 12V - battery or transformer provided.

The older MX7 etc do need to be connected to the power "cube" but this can be connected to 12V rather than the 240V.

There's a small orange connector on the side of the unit for the 12V supply.

Ha I see now.....that is probably what led to my confusion.

Many Thanks Guys.
