I see The Book People are selling this handy little introduction to astronomy for £4.99 (instead of £12.99). I like these Eyewitness Guides. They are nicely illustrated and contain a wealth of information in a concise format. The Astronomy book makes a nice introduction. Astronomy - Eyewitness Companion

I have that book and really like it. Like all books in its class it's a bit light on in-depth information, but does what it does very well - arguably much better than many of its competitors (in my opinion). It's a great little tome to keep around and it goes in the case whenever we go away.
