130mm v 150mm

Recommended Posts

Hi

When doing research t'internet for what to look out for I'm often given examples that can be seen with a 6in newt... Am I safe to assume that a 5.1in newt will show the same, albeit a little dimmer??

Cheers

You really need a larger step up in aperture to get a readily noticeable difference. The extra aperture might show itself a little with deep sky objects but not outstandingly so.

The 130mm - 200mm comparison would be much more marked.

I agree. I went from 130mm to 200mm and WOW.

130mm-150mm would not be that great.

Thanks for that, I was toying with the idea of replacing the 130p with a 150 Dob.

However I'll hang on and get a new wide 32mm eyepiece instead, and if the hobby is still biting at Christmas, a step up to 200p would be a better plan...
