DSS What settings do you use?

Hi Guys

I have been using deep sky stacker for some time now.

My question is , depending upon the length of subs taken , DSS has what it calls "Recommded Settings" that presumably defaults to the settings to suit.

Do any of you guys go away from the "recommended settings" and if so what is your basis for doing this ?

I pretty much use the recommended settings. The only time I might choose something else is to choose kappa-sigma staking if I know I have slight trails in my widefields.

I go through all the subs myself though and then tell it to stack 100% rather than let it choose the best 80% for itself. I tweak the star detection threshold to get between 70 and 100 stars. I choose the best one to use as a reference frame also.

What is this "reference frame "?

You look through the subs and find the best one. Right click it and set it as the reference. This tells DSS to use that one as the bench mark to stack the others onto.

At what stage do you right click on the sub ?
