M81 & M82

Took me forever to find this and then managed to get 29 minutes worth of light frames, 8 minutes of darks all stacked in DSS. Not too sure what to do in processing but this looked as good as anything.

Just only one real question about this though, is it normal for this to have a lack of any 'colour'. Took these with my Canon 600D

Off to a good start there. You need to move the slider in the saturation tab on DSS to get colour 15% or so should do the trick.

Yes, nice start Some tweaking should help, I agree.

Flats would make a difference by killing the vignetting but they would also allow you to stretch out the faint spiral arms in M81.

Yes very nice try boosting colours with match colour in PS and using layer masks to apply it to the galaxy that works well.

so I will be trying to get flats next time, do I want dark flats or light flats? or both hehe
