M3 Globular jewel

Easy to find, half way between Arcturus and Cor Corioli.

For those who haven't seen , it's a bright jem packed with stars. You can throw a bit of mag at her to show the core, but there's just more and more stars, nice.

From there it's a quick nudge to Coma Bernices and the Virgo clusters, nice.

Saw it first time last weekend in SGL7.

Even with my puny 200mm it was quite prominent.

A toss up with M13!

M3 is indeed a beautiful globular star cluster that resides in Canes Venatici.

I remember when I first viewed M3 several years ago, and I was just amazed by its appearence. I didn't know what exactly it was until I found out what it actually was later.

Since we are talking about globular star clusters in Charles Messier's list, I am also fond of M22.
