Black speck on primary mirror

Just unpacked and assembled my SW150P Dob and there looks to be a large black speck between the centre and the edge of the primary mirror.

Any thoughts on getting rid of it without breaking my brand new toy or should it be going back to WEX tomorrow.

Any advice gratefully received.

it's likely to be a speck of dust or packing material. it won't affect the view and if you can use a bulb blower or similar that may shift it. be careful not to touch any mirror surfaces though.

I will call the supplier anyhow tomorrow cos I've spent my hard earned cash and it's not perfect.

Tough to tell really, it could be a speck of dust/packing, or it could be something bad. Unless you're comfortable removing the mirror cell and taking a look close up, it's probably better to contact the supplier.

Small specks of dust etc won't degrade the image, but if it's an imperfection in the mirror it could well get worse over time etc. As you said, you spent your hard earned on it...

how gutting is that aswel- looking forward to your new scope and then something in the back of your mind is telling you its not quite perfect - contact the seller and get it replaced- should be perfect from brand new.
