Yes and yes so long as you have the right "type" of LP.

I wouldn't say it's a million miles better than the SW one though ...

I "think" if you ask FLO nice, they will let you test it out and send it back if it doesn't help with you type of LP.

I have one only used it once and for me it does exactly what it says on the tin and also doubles up as a moon filter and works well on Jupiter and mars. But Ive not tried on mars.

Interesting. I found out a couple of yrs ago that the SW light pollution filter also works really well as a moon filter. It adds a slight colour to the moon but no big problem there. I also have a bog standard moon filter.
