Stacking

Hey guys, been thinking about stacking images, Would it be possible to only use 1 image, and stack that repeatedly? Instead of stacking different images?

If not, why? (this doesnt include darks/flats etc)

No.

Unfortunately doesn't work like that.

Repeats of the same frame will have the noise distribution and patterns in exactly the same position. There's no "randomness" which you rely on to get a minimal noise outcome in a good stack.

So if you were to stack the same image it would just reproduce the imperfections in that 1 image and make them stand out more?

If you stacked one image over and over you'd just end up with a copy of the original image, basically.
