M45 The Pleiades Star Cluster (RGB)

I tend to be put off RGB most nights due to the really bad gradients I seem to get. No doubt something to do with a lot of LP in my vicinity. I've done a lot of work on getting my flat frames better, but this has only made a slight difference. Thankfully I've been able to pull something out of this in PixInsight with a modest number of subs.

The picture below is what the DBE tool removed on it's first run!

Camera: Atik 383L+ Mono with Baader 1.25" RGB CCD Set

Scope: Borg 101EDII with 0.85x Reducer @ F5.3

Mount: EQ6 with EQMOD

Guiding: Orion ST80 with QHY5

Capture Software: CCD Commander, Maxim DL

Processing Software: Deep Sky Stacker, PixInsight

Exposures: 4 x 10 mins per colour

Calibration: 25 x Bias, Flats, Darks

It's a pretty powerful tool Euan and has done a good job of cleaning it up

Really nice image for a 40 minute exposure! Are you planning to add more? The star colour is starting to peak through nicely as well. A few more hours on this should produce a really nice result with bags of nebulosity poking through.

DBE has helped you get an excellent background sky there. This can be the hardest part of any image. Great result for a short set of data.

Hi

I actually think you have removed to much with DBE as the blue closely matches M45 , keep the samples further away from the nebula or lower the tolerance a bit

I really need to watch your video on DBE again and spend a few more hours getting into it, when I stretch this I can see loads of wispy stuff in there it's just really hard to keep the background flat

Managed to get a bit more out of it, will revisit later as I think it's as much as I will get with only 40 mins per colour
