Starter Scope

Hi all,

just scouring around the internet for a beginners bargain. Spotted this on e-bay and was wondering if it's any use as a starter scope. If so what should I pay for it before it becomes a wasted investment, tough question I know but just a ballpark figure would help.

whats your budget and do you want to view lunar/planets or deep sky objects

Avoid the Seben. Look at makes like SkyWatcher and Celestron. Both these brands do scopes suitable for beginners who don't have massive budgets.

Hold fire on buying a scope. Approach your local astro group and ask for their advice, all the better if they have arranged an observing session or public event in conjunction with Stargazing Live. This way you'll be in a better position to make the right choice.
