A nasty little accident...

Glad all is ok Ben.

When my scope goes "vertical" at a target like Andromeda, I do stare at the clamp holding the ota to the mount.

Nothing to compare but the first time I tried my hyperion (not being used to large eyepieces) I hadn't fully tightened the diagonal and the whole thing swung 180 degrees while I was away from the scope.

Heart in the mouth stuff but the eyepiece WAS securely tightened at the other end of the diagonal.

It's posts like this that will make people think.

I've already had this happen to my new scope a couple of times while mounting it. Thankfully it didnt fall or hit me. I had not yet let go of the OTA when the bloomin thing just bailed out sidewards.

Now before i let go of the OTA i look down the dovetail plate as if it were a gun sight to see if everything is flush and where it is meant to be.

Glad both you and scope are ok. It is a heart stopping moment when it happens.
