African Queen - Eta Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) - Powernewt & ST8300M

Hi guys,

Here's another image from the cold-cold nights under clear Namibian Skies last June...

I used a Powernewt 2.8-8 CF to shoot this image, and it's made of a mere 1.5 hours - 10 min of each color, and an hour and 5 min. of Ha.

I found processing an emission nebula to be a refreshing experience, after so much dust over the last year or so. However, as Ha is so strong in this nebula, it took an extra effort to bring out a good balance between the various colors in it, combined with a reasonable balance between luminance levels.

I posted two versions:

- Lower Res: 1024x779 pixels: http://www.pbase.com/boren/image/140361548/original

- Higher Res: 1300x989 pixels:

I hope you like it, and any comments are, as always, very welcome.

Cheers,

Harel :icon_salut:
