Graham Darke
Has anyone ever converted one of those octagonal summerhouses into an observatory? I was thinking it might be easy to get the top of one of those to spin. Would just need to figure out how to make an opening flap in the top that would be properly watertight when closed. Anyone ever done this or something similar? A summerhouse might not attract quite as much attention as a dome but would still offer more protection from wind/stray light than a run off roof..... Telrad
hmm, interesting. I'm sure someone has attempted it. You could try the DIY Obs section. DIY Observatories - Stargazers Lounge

michael8554
There's an octagonal rotating roof observatory disguised as a summerhouse in "Small Astronomical Observatories" edited by Patrick Moore, published by Springer.
