Celestron 127 slt goto question

I wonder if someone can explain why when using the goto to slew to an object that is 90 degrees or less azimuth away from where the scope is pointing it will go 270 degrees in the other direction to reach it.

Am I missing something?

I did check but the scope is mounted the right way round.

They are correct as well otherwise the scope would not find what I select.

Finding the object is not the problem - its the fact that the scope takes the longest route to get there that I'm puzzled about.

It's not alone. My wife's Skywatcher 200 does exactly the same. Irritating isn't it!

Mine does this too.

It is a pain as I have to shift the battery to avoid cordwrap.
