First Light with New Scope - M45

There was a break in the clouds this evening that was there long enough to get the new (to me) Celestron 102mm Wide Field Refractor set up and try a few shots with the EOS 400D.

9 x 20 second subs and 5 x darks at 800 ASA.

I'm quite please with it as it my first attempt at something other than Jupiter or the Moon.

Thoughts and comments welcome.

Try some more stretching of the levels! I bet you wil find more nebulosity hidden amongst the brightest stars. Nice focus, color, etc.

I did some more processing in Photoshop CS3 and got a little more nebulosity to show, but not much.

More experience, more subs, longer exposures and less cloud will no doubt help and once I get a chance to try some guiding..............

But that's all part of the learning.
