Saturdays Sun - Ha Full Disk 15th October

Woke up this morning to beautifully clear skies and after setting up enjoyed some fantastic white light and Ha views - the seeing through the 5" with the Lunt wedge was absolutely great! I decided to image and went for the WL first off; to my horror, in the time it had took me to get kitted up for imaging and get a view on screen the seeing has just disintegrated - it was awful, difficult to focus, granulation no longer visible, it could only mean one thing - cloud was imminent. Like clockwork, despite most of the UK being free from cloud, a large patch of cloud had formed and was pretty stationary over my house mad.gif It took several hours before it broke for long enough for me to image, however by then the sun had descended into the trees and rooftops of the cityscape...

The giant proms that were visible earlier in the week have long since gone, however a few smaller ones were visible where the 2 bands of solar activity coincided with the limb. One took the form of a small filaprom. The disk is alive with activity though - active regions and their associated spots, and filaments galore. It's pretty tricky to get an effective 'one shot' of the disk and proms with all these bright active regions wanting to saturate the chip on the DMK31. Anyway, here's todays disk! Hope it's sunny where you are, and if it is go out and observe el-sol, you wont be disappointed! smile.gif

Very polished! I never seem to have much fortune with full disc mosaics. I tend to get imperfections; probably due to an inferior equipment setup or something?

The Sun certainly is putting on a show lately!
