Jupiter + Ganymede Transit

I've been watching Ganymede transit Jupiters south pole area for the past hour - very enjoyable

The contrast between the moons bright disk and the darker south polar zone was really quite marked and I've been able to follow the moons progress through the whole transit.

John I was observing last night with the 6" Newt and only had a brief look at Jupiter. I should have done some research before going out

I caught a few photos of Jupiter last night and saw it appearing out the other side...very good.

I've never seen a transit before. Whenever something like that happens its always cloudy

The good thing about Jupiter is that there is almost always something interesting going on.
