You can't beat sitting on a couple of reclining deckchairs with the missus, a bottle of wine, and a pair of binocs each. Get the Liddl Rocktrail 10x50's - only about £15 - very ue'able - and teriffic value for money. Have a pair each - it'll save you a load of cash and you'll have more towards a half decent scope

hello and welcome to sgl...if you only want to dip your toaes and spend less than £50ish go for the binoculars, else any 4" or larger scope as a starter is fine, get one second-hand if you like first then you have the experience behind to make a more informed choice.
