tripod and mount confirmation for 15x70 bins

Hi all, i have finally decided to go with the horizon 8115 and large L mount, i am just wanting to make sure i am making the right decision before purchase in the next week or so. also i do have a few questions but il wait to see if anyone has this setup first before i waffle on, thanks

The Horizon 8115 is reported to be a great mount for binoculars (I've never used one myself). By 'large L mount', I guess you mean a L Bracket. If so, that sounds good

You might want to read This discussion first to help you decide. My own view about using camera tripods is that you can't point the binoculars near to the zenith. For that you would need a tilted 'U' shaped mount head.

I have a Red Snapper mount with a Triton grip myself, which i'm very happy with, however, I think you will be very happy with the Horizon though, as it looks to be a very nice tripod indeed! I'd go for it, I very much doubt you'll be in any way disappointed with a tripod that a lot of users seem to rate highly on here!

Hi, I have the 8115 and find it great. Really stable and well worth the money. Only issue is when looking at the zenith, it can be a bit difficult but i'm 6ft 6" so it's never going to be that easy. Highly recommend it.

Another vote for the 8115 from me

I use it with Celestron 15x70 bins and it is solid as a rock, but be sure to get a metal 'L' bracket as well.

Right i'm sold now then, payday in a week so once bills paid il get my order in, ooooohhh i cant wait now, really excited....... not like the weather has given me much opportunity to use the bin's anyway lol, it horrendous here :-(

weather is terrible here to, and when you get your new tripod it will be worse
