5x Converter Lense as a Telescope

Is it possible, or even worth while, using a converter lense as a telescope?

I have an old Eagle Eye Optic zoom 5x Teleconverter lense and was wondering if I could use it for imaging.

To add to this, as I was in a bit of a rush when I posted earlier, I have bought a T mount variable extension tube and am also waiting for a 42mm to 43mm step up ring that I could only find on ebay from a seller in hong Kong.

So When I have all the parts I will post my findings. I was hoping someone might have already tried this in some way or another.

Oh! and I have no idea why I kept adding an e to the end of the word lens in my original post.

I have had a look at the website for the lens you mention, I very much doubt if it will work as you expect. First, it is designed to go on digital cameras with fixed lens, so it may not on its own produce an image. Second, it has a small diameter, so will not collect much light.

Have you tried holding it up in front of a sheet of paper and moving it back and forth to see if it will focus an image?

Just my thoughts on it.

I would have thought it might have more use as a type of Barlow, I'm sure I've heard of others using 2X and 3X converters for this purpose.

No Naz I haven't tried anything with it. It hasn't cost me much money to try this out, I just thought I'd try something with it as it has not been used for a long time.

I never thought of using it as a barlow Peter. How would I go about doing this?

Dave. First check that it is a negative system, i.e. try it as a magnifying glass and see if it reduces the image. If so, it should be somehow fitted between the focal plane of your telescope and an eyepiece or camera.
