First Light ( for me anyway )

Managed to erect my recently acquired used Mead LX90

Went through the set up all OK , pointed it north , it then slewd to the first star OK then the second OK , Did 2 minor adjustments with the hand controller

But it was only 9.15 PM and still very light ( in a light polluted area )

Put the scope cover on and went indoors for a brew

Back out at 11.00pm to find a bank of high white cloud rolling in

left the scope out till 01.30 but still cloudy , so in it came and off to bed

At least I know it works now

So it was my first play with it re assembling , working the handset , using the finder scope etc

Sounds like you had a good evening.

Try pointing at the pole star. Its a double star and is a fine object....See if you can make out the dimmer secondry..

Just to ley you know, I went out at 4am to a clear sky to see Jupiter, Mars and a large glowing Moon! Not everywhere was cloudy, at least not till I got up at 8.30!!

Where in Essex are you? I`m in Basildon and after 9pm tonight it looks super clear for the rest of the night - so looks like an all nighter for me then!
