JohnnyD333
Hello SGL, I was interested in purchasing a solar filter. Its a cap for my old 4.5 reflector. Im curious as to what can be seen with these filters. Will I see any features of the sun, or just a white ball? Thanks again:icon_salut:Orion Telescopes: 5.81" ID Orion Full Aperture Solar Filter
Merlin66
A good white light filter like the Orion (or the Baader solar film) will show you the sunspots and some surface granulations. It will not show the filaments and prominences etc - this needs a specialised Ha solar filter (Coronado/ Lunt)HTH
spaceboy
This was a picture I recently took through Baader Solar Film which is basically the same film used in the cells you linked to. Great if there is some sunspot activity but just a white ball other wise.
