A Recommended RDF?

Hi - I'm struggling a bit with finding things through the 9*50 finderscope that came with my scope and have been thinking maybe a red dot finder will help - but there are several different ones with a bit of a difference in price. Can anybody recommend one over others?

e.g

Skywather RDF

Telrad

Revelation Advanced

Baader Sky Surfer III

I've used all the ones you list and they all do their job well enough. The Telrad is the best I reckon although it's "footprint" is quite large for your scopes. You could think about a Rigel Quikfinder instead - nearly as good as a Telrad but a much smaller base size. If you want one just to replace your current finder (ie: use the same fitting shoe) then the Baader Skysurfer III is not bad at all. It has a larger viewing window than the Skywatcher which is helpful I find.

Thxs John. My plan was to replace the existing finder i,.e use the same shoe fittings - I think then I'll try out a Baader as it seems a bit cheaper.

Try astroboot, at scopes'n'skies, there are usually RDFs on there at very good prices, inc. auto-off ones at about a tenner. Buy 3 items and UK postage is free too!

Have you had a look at the telrad?

Telrad Reflex Finder | Telescope Accessories | Rother Valley Optics

Its a big step up from a straight forward RDF. Makes finding things very easy and you can download telrad charts to help even further
