First moon shot

My first shot of the moon through a skytravel 120 and using a nikon D40.

I have ordered a shutter remote so i dont have to use the button on the camera so that should get the focus right.

It's always a good feeling producing your first Astro picture.

The moon might seem to be an easy subject, but it is difficult to capture well. Not only focus is very critical, but exposure time, framing, and ISO setting all play a big part. Shutter operation need to be remotely operated to avoid unnecessary vibration which can adversly affect the result.

You've made a good start, but I think the slight blurring?, is due to vibration, so a remote control is a priority for you.

You will improve, no doubt about it.

As Ron says, a tiny bit blurry, but nothing that can't be sorted very easily. You've got the basics sussed - it's not easy with a digital camera, hence I do mine with a webcam.

Just done a couple more photos using my 200p as i could not get it into focus on my 120.

Just need some more practice and do some stitching and i should be on my way

Photographer at work is going to lend me his 24 megapixel camera so i should get some nice photos with that. I am a digital retoucher so if anyone needs some photoshop advice give me a shout as thats my day job.
