Hi Melibum, it's hard to tell from the jpeg but I think you could probably pull out a little more detail than that. How many iterations of curves did you go through? If you find you can't extract much more of the faint detail using curves, then go for a lot more subs, the more the better!

I gave it a massive stretch and the galaxies are just about visible. Miles more exposure as the current signal is lost in the noise. Longer subs if possible and more of them.

Not bad for 2nd go, cable relase should help.

For M81/M82 I think you'll start to see a lot more once you get beyond 60 seconds. If you can get to 3 minutes or 5 minutes then you'll notice a massive difference.

I doubt that using an un-cooled camera to build up subs on different nights will damage the image. Just get loads of them!

You can always try processing the new subs with and without the original subs to see which works best. That will give you something to do on those occasional cloudy nights we have.

I presume you mean the bulb setting 30s is the max until you get the release cable. Not to worry, get as many 30s as you can. Although you'll need a lot of RAM on your pc to process it.
