G2V Colour Calibration

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know that to correct the white balance on a modified camera, you can set the neutral point of your image using a known G2V star. Is this correct?

My question is, is there any relatively easy way to determine which of the stars in an image is of G2V type? I found a list of the brightest G2V stars, but it's very difficult to tell if any of these are in any particular image. For example, I have a recent image of IC 1396 - are any stars near this nebula G2V type?

Thanks

[edit] PS: Once I have a colour balance using a G2v star, can I save these settings and apply them to all future images (presumably the "lighting conditions" are constant from deep space!)
