I am sure there will be many academic reasoning's but it would seem all too inadequate when assessing the circumstances of the day. Signs in the heavens have a format in the ancient texts.

Looks like high alt rocket exhaust to me , reflecting light as it expands.Seen something very similar a few years ago out at sea mid atlantic , fired from a sub over 350nm away.

From the comments made it would seem a wonder of possibilities but the wonder is in the sequence and the timing. Look upon the earth and see the fermentation. Now we have the capability to see the bubbles of fermentation arising from the corrupted mass and wonder what it could be.
