Short Trifid Nebula

Wind picked up early last night bringing the marine layer off the coast to spoil the fun. Only managed 3 subs on this, not enough for the blues to show through the CLS filter. It was a nice test for trying 10min subs with my under mounted setup. I still need to tweek the PHD setting as it was pulling it a bit.

Hardware:

Scientific Explorer 152mm Mak-Newt F4.8

Celestron ASGT5 mount

Canon XS (self mod) with Astronomiks CLS-CCD clip in

50mm Autoguider/SSAG

Settings:

30mins of data

ISO 800, 3 x 10min lights, 3 darks& 25 flats

Software:

Nebulosity 2, CS4, Fitworks

Great stuff. Your camera obviously has great red sensitivity but I bet the blues will be in there if you can get the data built up. I think this is one of the most beautiful objects in the sky.

Olly

thanks Olly, the Astronomiks CLS filter does a harsh number on blue objects. Even processing Pleiades can be challenging for me. On the flip side the CLS makes the reds signal a bit stronger then normal, which works for me cuz I like imaging nebulas more then galaxies.
