Cygnus on real film

Following Nightfly's 'real film' posts I thought I'd look up some of my old slide scans from the early '90s. I quite like this shot of the Cygnus Milky Way taken on the long discontinued Scotch Chrome 400 film, 10 mins exposure 55mm lens. As seen in this picture it was really good for red emmission nebula- I don't know if any modern film emulsion comes close?

Anyway- looking forwards to the darker nights of August/September again whence this shot was taken.

Ah! good old film. I wonder how many AP's are still using it.

I've seen some fantastic results on film, and although I had some success, nothing I did earned any prizes.;)

Your Cygnus image is excellent. The North American Nebula is very prominent, and that is a very rich area of nebulosity.

Ideal for widefield imaging.

Ron.

Ah, there's another film shot! Great emission nebulae! I never have tried Scotch Chrome, but Kodak's E200 or Elite Chrome 200 worked at least as well.

I would also recommend Fujicolor 100, a color negative film. It should be available in larger photo outlets in Great Britain. Great colors in 15-20 minutes at f/2.8

Thanks for digging out a great archived image!

Jim
