Sunset Sundogs 13-06-2011

Whilst gettign ready for my nightly sunset shots I noticed a pair of Sundogs either side of the sun...

I tried to use the telegraph pole to block out as much of the glare from the sun as possible whilst shooting wide enough to capture both The Western and Eastern Sundogs in the same image..

Closeup of the Western Sundog - Nikon D200 with Sigma 180m f3.5 EX APO Macro...(not an ideal lens but thats what was onthe camera)

If you blocked the sun out with your hand they looked quite intense... should have go the OM to stand on the lawn with a bin lid ...

Peter that first image is my favourite, I like the composition and colour contrast between the telegraph pole cables and the clouds above set against the dark foreground and setting sun. Wonderful and striking image! I like the second image too, but the first just does it for me! Beautiful!

Tthe more I stare at the pic I notice the dogs start to extend into partial arcs - at least to the level of the uper wires...

I was hoping it would have developed into an arc but no luck on this occasion...
