I needed a taller tripod

I found using a 100m refractor can literally be a pain in the back on my Heq5. So I thought a taller tripod was needed and a wooden one would be best. Turns out a nice wooden tripod costs more than the scope so I looked at survey tripods. These are cheaper but not all will adapt easily. I found Alluminium ones can be had cheaply and have a good flat top to work with. I made the adaptor plate for my mount ( have one spare icon12.gif ) drilled the tripod plate and now I have a decent height mount.

The photo shows my C100 and the HEQ tripod at full extension.

I think this will work a treat. Yes a wooden one would be better but who can tell in the dark
