Heads Up Meade

Well, it is a spotting scope with a 5" mirror and a central obstruction that I don't know the size of.

If I was looking for a planetary scope, then this would not be my choice.

Of course I am giving my own opinion, and not trying to advise anybody else on this.

Ron.

It's an ETX125.

The OTA is exactly the same as the astronomical version, but the 'spotting 'scope' version is sold without a mount.

This may not be everyone's first choice as a planetary telescope but, having owned one of these, (albeit a modified version), I can attest to their performance - once allowed to cool. Also, I once viewed a website belonging to a Dutch ETX125 owner who had imaged every major object in the solar system with it - including Pluto!

Don't underestimate the humble ETX125...
