Spotting scope or binos?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Heading for short hols soon and itching to take a pair of binos with me; however I'm sort of torn between the idea of the binos and a spotting scope on a wee mount?

What's better considering a fairly limited budget I have?

I know you can get a pair of 'ok' binos for as little as £21 (Bressers 10x50)...

Are the spotting scopes (for say under £50) a total waste of money?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bins will be much easier for casual grab and go use. Generally wider field of view, and using two eyes allows the brain to process much more detail out of the same image with a single eye.

I'd also think that if you stuck to something 10x or less, you wouldn't even need a tripod - making it that much easier to travel with.

Just a thought,

Dan

I'd go for the bins and maybe a monopod which you get get for around "a tenner". Even with 10x50 I find I get some "shake" so need something to help hold them steady.

Cheers

Neil
