Crayford focuser on 150 Mak

Hello everyone

I would like to update the focuser on my Skywatcher 150 Mak (the older gold one).

I already have a SCT adapter that has a 2" male thread outer diameter

(see pic below)

I need to then buy something like this

Accessories @ Modern Astronomy (scroll down a little)

I am right in thinking that is all I need? I have read similar threads on here but I just wanted to double check.

Hi Jeremy,

I'm pretty certain that Mak/SCT adaptor is all you need to fit the Crayford focuser.

This is what I'm thinking of as an upgrade to my Skymax 180 : TS 2" Monorail SCT Dual Speed Focuser.

I seem to remember GazOC(?) had done this (advised me!) re. his MAK180 setup. Personally, I eventually used a Borg helical focusser on my MAK150. But these (small ones!) can only support a videocam, 1.25" eyepiece etc.

The Skymax 150 requires the Synta/SCT adaptor ring to connect the telescope to a SCT crayford focuser. I also added an extra locking ring from Ian King Imaging which allows me to ajust the orientation of my JMI focuser LR-SCT adaptor.
