New (second hand) toy

Just bought a Skywatcher 102mm F4.9 achro from Gaz (thanks matey)

It will give me a chance to get some practice in at wider field astro photography

over the coming months and being small and light, will make it easier for me to get

out to a local dark site.

Had a look through one before when Richard owned one and was impressed then

by how small the scope was given it's a 4".

Still going to save up for a biggish APO but that could take a couple of years

In the meantime, this little guy will fit in nicely at Geppetto Towers 8)

Those ST102's are nice little scopes. Did you read my comparison between the ST80 and the ST102? I think the ST102 won out

Yes I did Gordon and that's what set me off looking for one.

I know you get some CA through these scopes but I'm realistic about that

and as I said, it will help me learn the ropes on the wider stuff now I have

a better mount.

Be nice to back out of the core of M42 a change

To be honest for visual stuff CA hasn't bothered me much. Although for photography it shows up quite badly. It all depends on how much you can put up with it. It affects some people more than others (and they are the ones who have to buy expensive scopes!)
