Moving RDF on 6SE

Recommended Posts

Just how easy (or difficult) is it to move the RDF on a Celestron 6SE:icon_scratch:

I have got it on a Skywatcher Synscan mount and it is positioned at 7 o'clock, meaning that I have to grovel on the ground to use it:(

Looks like it is just a matter of drilling a couple of holes in the plastic shroud to make a new mounting point- is this the case? Has anyone done it?

Many thanks

Hi

Can't comment directly on that, but I recently fitted the Celestron "PiggyBack" Camera mount.

This meant removing the RDF and the instruction were very bold underlined warning about the rear mirror being just behind the plastic cover.

Their point being that using the wrong size mounting screws would potentially damage the mirror.

So you'll be looking at taking the SCT apart to be safe ?

(but I'm sure you were thinking of doing that anyway:))
